Sleeping during pregnancy

When you are pregnant and your belly starts growing it can be hard to find a good sleeping position at night. It can be difficult to get comfortable in bed, especially when your favorite sleeping position is belly down.
It is probably best to sleep on your side. The left side is preferable because this benefits the blood flow to the placenta. It also helps to reduce swelling in your hands, ankles and feet because it helps your kidney eliminate toxins from your body.
At the start of your pregnancy you can start training yourself to sleep on your left side. During the night it is possible you change your position. You can try to put a pillow between your legs or under your belly. Try which combination works best for you.
In de last stages of your pregnancy it is best to not sleep on your back. This is because the weight of your uterus on your spine, major blood vessels and back muscles can cause muscle aches and pains.
What is your favorite sleeping position?
